S.O.N.Y. Quarantine is SoSoon's 5th career solo release. Following the March 2020 release of S.O.N.Y. v2, SoSoon channeled inspiration from the pandemic to create the original 8 songs.

The Deluxe album was inspired by the protests that arose after the deaths of Ahmaud Arbery, George Floyd and Breonna Taylor generated international attention. After releasing the original project with "Tired" as the final song, SoSoon took to writing 4 new songs that captured the rage he felt.

According to SoSoon: "This project is special because it is the first time I've recorded and mixed my own work."
