Short Version: This song is about the things of the world that negatively impact my mental and emotional wellness.
Long Version: The older and more aware of my black identity I become, the more challenging it is to manage the external stressors of the world around me. As someone who was raised an only child, I almost always seclude myself from the world when dealing with mental/emotional issues. And guess what? It works!
As society SLOWLY continues to normalize conversations regarding mental health, I think it's important that we self assess so that when we're going through the shit, we know what we need and how to access it. Therapy is important - I'm a huge proponent of it. But at this stage in my life where I can't afford a therapist, I feel confident in my ability to find my quiet place and process what's happening.
lyrics
